Mold Tooling Engineering Manager

Job Type: Full-Time, Direct Hire
Compensation: $100K-$120K annually, plus a comprehensive benefits package including 401(k), dental, life, medical, and vision insurance.
Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Mold Tooling Engineering Manager to lead our engineering team in the design and production of medical cable assemblies and connector products. This role demands a seasoned professional who can oversee both new product development and ongoing engineering support, particularly focusing on injection-molded components. Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage an internal tool shop, coordinating with toolmakers and mold design engineers.
- Conduct Design for Manufacturability (DFM) reviews to ensure optimal product designs.
- Design and evaluate injection molds for medical connector components and cable assemblies.
- Develop and support tooling concepts, including gating, venting, cooling, and surface finishes.
- Collaborate with product engineering to ensure designs are manufacturable and cost-efficient.
- Work closely with external mold shops, both domestic and offshore, throughout the tool design and qualification process.
- Assist in resolving tooling-related issues and facilitate design updates as needed.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in mold design, tooling, or toolmaking.
- An Associate’s degree or higher in engineering, manufacturing, or a related technical field; equivalent hands-on experience is also considered.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks 3D CAD software.
- Capability to conduct thorough DFM and tooling feasibility reviews.
- Extensive experience in medical device or regulated manufacturing environments.
- Experience collaborating with global manufacturing partners.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience specifically in medical connector and cable assembly mold design.
- Background as a journeyman toolmaker or significant shop floor experience.
- Familiarity with medical validation processes including IQ/OQ/PQ.
